Go, Grow, and Glow: DML Montessori Celebrates Nutrition Month in New Manila, Quezon City
Every July, schools across the Philippines join the national Nutrition Month celebration, and this year, DML Montessori School of Quezon City marked the occasion with a full day of learning, movement, and family involvement. As a Montessori preschool in New Manila, Quezon City, DML believes that good nutrition is one of the earliest lessons a child can carry into life, and this year’s Go, Grow, and Glow theme gave our youngest learners a joyful, hands-on way to understand it.
Parents and guardians joined us for the celebration, making it not just a school activity but a shared moment between home and school, something we always hope to nurture at DML.
A Colorful Start to the Morning
The celebration opened with a mini parade around the campus. The Turquoise class stood out in bright, handmade costumes representing different fruits and vegetables, a simple but memorable way of introducing children to the Go, Grow, and Glow food groups they were learning about.
Parents watching from the sidelines got to see their children proudly wearing their fruit and vegetable costumes, walking the very grounds where many DML alumni once walked as toddlers themselves.
A Stage Full of Energy
After the parade, the Diamond class took to the stage for a dance number that brought even more excitement to the morning. The performance was a highlight for many families, a reminder that learning at DML happens through movement, expression, and joy, not just inside the classroom.
Hands-On Learning in the Classroom
Once the program ended, the children moved to their respective classrooms for activities that brought the Nutrition Month lessons to life. Some baked simple treats, while others prepared mixed fruits, learning through their own two hands what it means to nourish the body.
These activities were made possible through the guidance of our Sisters and the support of parents who volunteered their time, a partnership that has always been at the heart of how DML approaches early childhood education.
Why Nutrition Month Matters at DML
At DML Montessori School, we see nutrition education as part of the bigger picture of forming the whole child, spiritually, socially, and physically. Since 1970, DML has been guided by the belief that children are gifts from God who deserve care in every dimension of their growth. Teaching them to value good food, from a young age and in a way that is fun and memorable, is one small but meaningful part of that mission.
As a faith-based, non-profit Montessori school run by the Daughters of St. Mary of Leuca, DML continues to welcome families from New Manila, Sta. Mesa Heights, San Juan City, and nearby communities who are looking for a preschool where academic learning and character formation go hand in hand.
