A Tribute to Mama Mary 2026: DML Montessori Children Act Out the Mysteries of Light in New Manila, Quezon City

DML Montessori School of Quezon City held its Tribute to Mama Mary on October 7, 2026, at Mother Elisa Hall, from 8:30 to 11:30 in the morning. The date was the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, and the theme was Mama Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary. For a school founded by the Daughters of St. Mary of Leuca, October is one of the most meaningful months of the year.

Costumes From the Classroom to the Hall

Children came to school already in costume, and the day opened with a parade from the classrooms, past the playground and the parking area, down to Mother Elisa Hall. Shepherds, angels, and townspeople made the walk together.

A Hall Dressed in Blue and White

The stage was covered in sky blue, with white roses, paper doves, and a big “Ave Maria” banner over the curtain. A portrait of Mama Mary, Queen of the Holy Rosary, hung behind every scene.

The Program

The Ruby Class started things off with the “Homage to God.” The Diamond Class followed with “Gaway-Gaway,” a song in tribute to the country. The Topaz Class then welcomed everyone through two young speakers, Sebastian Arvy A. Tan and Calia Lovelle D. Pupos.

The Mysteries of Light, Class by Class

The heart of the morning was the Mysteries of Light, which each class brought to life through song and presentation, with the Sisters helping the youngest ones find their places on stage.

The Amethyst Class portrayed the Baptism of Jesus, with children in robes and headscarves gathered around the banner. The Turquoise Class took on the Wedding Feast of Cana, complete with orange clay jars, a table of bread and cups. The Topaz Class presented the Proclamation of the Kingdom of God and the call to conversion, raising their arms toward the audience while girls in yellow gowns and white veils stood beside them. The Pearl Class acted out the Transfiguration, with one child in white and red standing on a green hill between two angels with feathered wings. The Diamond Class closed the mysteries with the Institution of the Eucharist, holding up a long banner while two Sisters held a scroll at either end of the stage.

Flowers for Mama Mary

After the presentations, the pupils came forward one by one with flowers for the traditional flower offering. For many of them it was the first time offering something to Mama Mary in front of a whole hall. The program ended with the hymn “Hail, Holy Queen Enthroned Above”.

Why DML Teaches Faith Through Participation

The Rosary can be hard for a preschooler to picture. Putting on a costume and acting out the scenes gives them something they can remember. It also fits how DML has taught in New Manila, Quezon City, since 1970: a Philippine-style Montessori rooted in Marian devotion and care for each child. The Tribute to Mama Mary is one of the clearest examples of that in the school year.
