A School Rooted in New Manila
New Manila has long been one of Quezon City’s most established residential districts — known for its tree-lined streets, its proximity to major hospitals and universities, and its close-knit community character.
DML has been part of this neighborhood since June 1970, when Mother Elisa Martinez and Mother Marta Guglielmi of the Daughters of St. Mary of Leuca founded the school with just 30 children. What began as a small preschool grew entirely through the trust of New Manila families — passed from neighbor to neighbor, from one generation to the next.
Today, DML is the only faith-based Montessori school in New Manila founded and run by a religious congregation. We remain committed to the same mission we started with: to help each child grow in faith, in knowledge, and in character.
Our Approach to Early Childhood Education
DML follows the Montessori method as developed by Dr. Maria Montessori, adapted to the values, culture, and spirituality of Filipino families. We call this Philippine-style Montessori — an approach that honors each child’s natural desire to learn while grounding that learning in faith, family, and community.
Children at DML develop across all areas: spiritual, moral, social, emotional, mental, and physical. Learning happens both inside and outside the classroom — in our air-conditioned classrooms, our garden, our chapel, and our covered playgrounds.
DML is DepEd-recognized and a proud member of the Catholic Educational Association of the Philippines (CEAP).
