Fire and Earthquake Drill 2026: DML Montessori Prepares Its Young Learners in New Manila, Quezon City
DML Montessori School held its Fire and Earthquake Drill on August 13, 2026, together with the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP). Rain started partway through the program, and the activities continued as planned.
A Seminar in Mo. Elisa Hall
The program began with a seminar at Mo. Elisa Hall, led by Ms. Evangeline B. Lumague, LPT of QCDRRMO. She walked teachers and students through the basics of fire and earthquake safety, including what to do when the ground shakes, how to recognize a fire hazard, and why staying calm matters during an emergency.
From the Classroom to the Safety Zone
After the seminar, students moved from their classrooms to the designated safety zones around the campus, guided by their teachers. This part of the drill followed the same route students would take during an actual emergency.
The Fire Extinguisher Demonstration
The Bureau of Fire Protection, represented by FINSP Lorenzo L. Diaz and FO1 Julie Marie H. Lusuegro, conducted a fire extinguisher demonstration for the students. Rain began falling as the demonstration was underway. The team continued the demonstration despite the weather, and students were able to observe the process from start to finish.
Student Participation
Students remained at the demonstration area and observed closely, asking questions as the activity went on. Afterward, each class had the chance to take photos near the fire truck, and students lined up for their turn in an orderly manner.
